Rebel Rock Racing made history on Friday by taking an incredible first victory anywhere in the world for the brand-new Aston Martin Vantage GT4.
From 23rd on the grid, Frank DePew and Robin Liddell made serene progress through the field and benefitted from a strategy masterstroke to make their final fuel stop at the earliest opportunity; a move that cycled them into victory contention once all their rivals had pitted.
Sitting second as the race resumed following a Full-Course-Yellow period with 40 minutes to go, Liddell took just two laps to size up the car ahead and make a stunning three-wide pass to snatch the lead.
Maintaining a small, but significant advantage, Liddell reeled off the remainder of the race to secure the maiden success for Rebel Rock Racing, from DeLand, FL, as an Aston Martin partner team in what is only the new Vantage GT4’s fourth start. Full race report at Sportscar 365
